Your figures, not ours
The calculators
A money course that stays theoretical is no use: nobody works out the cost of a loan “in general”. These 5 tools take your own amounts and show what they add up to. Everything is worked out on your device.
The 5 tools
A budget that holds
What comes in, your fixed outgoings, your variable outgoings. What is left, per day and per year, and the share your fixed charges already take.
Open the calculatorWhat a loan really costs
An amount, a rate, a term. The monthly payment, the total actually paid, and what you hand back for every 100 borrowed.
Open the calculatorInterest at work
A sum, a regular payment, a rate, a number of years. What time adds, and how long it would take to double.
Open the calculatorWhat insurance really covers
A loss, a depreciation, an excess, a cap. What you receive, and what stays on you.
Open the calculatorTesting a promised return
An advertised return, a term. What the promise implies per year, what it does to a sum, and how long it would take to double it.
Open the calculatorWhat makes these tools different
- Nothing goes out. No amount is sent anywhere, none is saved, not even on your device: the figures live for as long as the page is open and disappear when you close it. One button clears them straight away.
- The formula is published. Every page carries its method in plain language, with its operations in order. You can redo the calculation on paper and check that we are not cheating. That is what separates an ODERSA tool from a black box.
- No currency imposed. You enter numbers, in your own currency. The display formats follow the language of the site.
- No product, no brand, no advice. These tools calculate, they recommend nothing: no loan, no insurance, no investment.
- They work without a connection. Once the page is open, the network is no longer any use: see Offline and on paper.
What order to use them in
- The budget, to know what is actually left each month. No other question comes before that one.
- The cost of a loan, before any signature, even for payment in three instalments.
- Interest at work, to understand why time is the real lever, in both directions.
- What insurance covers, when a policy is up for comparison or a claim happens.
- Testing a promise, every time you are promised easy money.
These tools go with the course, they do not replace it. The full reasoning, with its three ways in, is on Learning about money, and the words used are explained in the glossary.
