This is an official ODERSA website. Here’s how you know

The official domain

The address of this site ends in odersa.org. Every service the association runs sits on a subdomain of odersa.org and nowhere else. If the address in your browser’s address bar does not end in odersa.org, this site is not ours.

Free, and no account

Everything is open straight away. No sign-up, no account, no password, no subscription, no advertising. Nothing is held back for those who pay, because there is nothing to pay for.

No data collected

This site does not follow you: no tracker, no tracking cookie, no measurement tool built into these pages, and nothing measured on your device. Our host counts requests in aggregate, as any server that answers does: a total, never a profile. You do not have to take our word for it: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and reload the page. You will see the full list of what the site asks for. Everything comes from odersa.org, nothing goes anywhere else.

Free to reuse

The content is published under the CC BY 4.0 licence. You may copy it, translate it, print it and pass it on, for your classes as much as for the people around you, on one condition only: credit ODERSA.

A promise that can be checked

Our method

A money course is worth no more than the way it is made. Here is how every page of this course is written, checked and corrected, and what this service refuses to do, even when asked.

  • No personal advice
  • No brand named
  • Checked by machine
A line engraving of a wooden hand press: a vertical screw shaft worked by a long lever, above a bed that slides on rails, the whole standing on four curved legs.
Before running a page off in quantity, the printer pulled a proof and read it back: it is the same gesture that comes before every release of this course. What gets in, what does not

How a word gets into this course

Three rules settle matters before the first sentence. The reasoning first: a percentage, a debt, a sales trap are understood the same way everywhere, and it is that reasoning which forms the core of the course. What depends on one particular country never gets in: it lives apart, as a module, on Your country.

A figure is only written if it is sourced: every figure carries its public source and the exact date we read it, on the The sources page. Without that line, the figure is not published, whatever the temptation. A worked example is different: it proves itself, with a calculator, and needs no source.

A trap is described to be recognised, never to be reproduced. Every page names the signs and the exact reflex, but never a call script, a message template or the name of the brand being impersonated: describing a scam too precisely would amount to supplying the instructions.

After publication

Written once, checked before every release

It is the association that writes this course, never one person alone: every page is drafted, read back and corrected internally before it joins the site.

Every trap in the catalogue carries two distinct dates: the date it was first published, and the date it was last checked. The two part company as soon as a page is reviewed, because a published text can grow old without anyone touching it: a scam changes shape, a figure goes out of date, a link dies. Reviewing regularly is not the same thing as writing once.

A reported error gets corrected. Report an error goes straight to the service team, and what has been added, corrected or checked again stays visible on What’s new.

The argument that can be checked

The chain of checks

A text that promises is not enough: something has to check, even when nobody is watching. Before any release, five separate checks read the site back and refuse, naming it precisely, anything that would depart from what this page announces.

The five checks run before any release
The page contract Every page fragment is read back line by line: no structural tag copied in, no colour written by hand, no bank or insurer brand named, a single main heading, a heading hierarchy with no skipped level.
The visual system The style sheet served is compared, byte for byte, with the one shared by every ODERSA service. The slightest difference is refused, and no colour is added outside that system.
The calculators The calculation file actually served is loaded, and its results are compared with values worked out by hand, with the working shown, including edge cases such as a zero rate or a cap that bites.
The links Every address on the site is resolved exactly as the server that serves it does. A dead link, or a page no other page cites, is flagged before release.
The contrasts Every colour is measured according to its real use, text, fill or pale background, in both themes, light and dark. Colours that carry meaning stay far enough apart never to be confused.

A single refusal, on a single one of those five checks, stops publication. Nothing goes out half checked.

The rule that comes before the first word

Universal by construction

Reasoning about money is the core of this course, and it holds everywhere: the mechanism of interest, of a debt or of a sales trap does not change from country to country.

A national scheme, a benefit, a cap, a telephone number, an appeal authority, never gets into that core. It lives as a separate module, specific to its country, on Your country: never mixed into the rest, always identifiable as such.

A list of commitments, not a hidden clause

What this service never does

  • No personal financial advice. This course explains a mechanism; it never says what to do for a particular person, in their particular situation.
  • No brand named. No bank, no insurer, no platform, ever, not even for comparison: naming a firm always looks like a recommendation.
  • No affiliate link, no commission. This service takes nothing on what you decide afterwards. The page contract that refuses a colour written by hand refuses, in the same way, a tracking parameter in an address.
  • Never a return presented as a promise. A worked example stays an example: it never becomes a figure to expect.
  • No local legal pages. Legal notice, privacy, accessibility and status are not here: they live in the same place for every ODERSA service, linked from the foot of every page.
What this service never does is not a matter of good intentions: it rests on a check that refuses, even when nobody is reading.
